An exposed location will mean a property that has no surroundings, or possibly on a hill or close to the sea. When completing heat loss calculations you allow for the design to cope with outside air temperatures affecting the building.
Wind chill in exposed locations affects the design temperature so allowing for an exposed location on the property allows you to increase the heat loss to cope with this effect. A normal allowance for this would be 10%, however you do have the ability to allow for more or less as and when required.
